Water Colors is a digitally printed range of soft watercolour washes, where the colour bleeds and pools across the fabric the way it would on wet paper.

On a 108 inch wide back that wash runs the full width of the quilt uninterrupted, which is the whole argument for a wide back over pieced yardage: a joined backing would put a hard seam straight through the middle of the gradient. Many quilters treat this range as a reversible second front.
