Marble Tonal Quilt Backing

Marble tonals are the workhorse backing. A fine veined marbling in a single colour family, so the fabric reads as a solid from a few feet away but carries just enough movement to disguise quilting stitches, thread colour changes and the small tension variations that show up on a plain back.

If you are unsure what to put behind a quilt, this is the safest category on the site. It coordinates with almost any pieced top, it does not date, and it wears well because minor marks do not sit on an unbroken field of colour.
